sagacious; adj. 1. having or showing acute mental discernment and keen practical sense; shrewd: a sagacious lawyer.2.Obsolete. keen of scent. •

Etymology:
adj. c.1600, from Latin sagacem (nominative sagax) "of quick perception;" see sagacity. Related: Sagaciously.

I have a sagacious preceptor for the next couple of weeks but his sense of personal space is much less than mine.

He’s one of those people who sits very close and touches you when he talks and walks near you. But he’s a good preceptor, talks through procedures and freely offers his opinion on everything.
