If you tend to drive faster than traffic you constantly run into people who react aggressively to the fact that you closed in on them quickly. I understand being mad at tailgaters but just driving up fast and slowing with a reasonable distance between seems to anger some to the point where they do things like slow down to keep pace with the car next to them or brake when they don’t have to.

There are always the people cruising the fast lane not paying attention but for the people who actively try to keep you from getting around them and on your way I can’t think of any other motive.

People on the Eastern seaboard don’t know how to drive any how and have stupid ideas.

I’ve noticed that sometimes if I use the passing lane for passing, then signal and get back in the right lane as soon as I can do so safely (always making sure I can see both left and right sides of whatever I passed in my center rear-view mirror), other people on the road will start to emulate me, even if they were sticking in the left lane before.

I have seen it happen a time or two.

Exactly, the pickup driver broke a cardinal rule of the road. This is what I tell the kids in my family when they start driving:

Never create a bottleneck or rolling roadblock, always make way for speeders to pass as you are not omniscient. For all you know there could by a child in the car bleeding to death that needs to get to the hospital immediately!
