For those of you too young to remember, Shirley Jones, in a previous life, was a huge Broadway and movie star. One of the finest voices ever, simply amazing.
She was in the original Broadway runs of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s ‘South Pacific’ and ‘Me and Juliet’ and then the lead in the film version of Oklahoma and Carousel. She won an Oscar for playing a prostitute in the film version of ‘Elmer Gantry’.
I was in elementary school when the Partridges were on. It wasn’t until college that I saw Oklahoma! on TV. From then on I was confused as to how Mrs. Partridge evolved from Broadway to a silly TV show. But she can sing.
