The Baltimore Orioles and Chicago White Sox will play the finale of their three-game series Wednesday at Camden Yards in a game that will be closed to the public.

The revised plan was announced Tuesday after widespread public unrest in Baltimore forced a postponement of a White Sox-Orioles game for the second consecutive day.

"How much is this going to cost the city? Millions? "

No problem. Under a Democrat Party regime they'll just raise taxes on somebody or on some thing in the city. The trouble is that there aren't that many taxpayers left in Baltimore so they'll go begging to Annapolis and start making it a "civil rights" issue until they get their money.

...public not welcome? Great confidence in the national guard there, bozos. I would hope that the people of Baltimore reward their team for such a brave action by making sure the team knows they are not welcome either.

Back in the days of the old Washington Senators, some days were pretty close.

Odd word when the first two still have to be played.

This idiot mayor should be in jail.

4/17/1979 the Oakland A’s drew a record-small crowd of 653. That record is about to fall.

They should give free tickets to all the looters. Then have a mass arrest as they try to leave the stadium. Or just lock them in the stadium for 5-10 years.

IF the employee-citizens of Baltimore hurt by their neighbors’ thuggery won’t rise up to protest against the rioters, then they are actually part of the problem and will suffer financially for it. If the problems persist into the summer, the O’s should look to move their franchise back to St.Louis when they were the St. LOUIS Browns. (OH wait. FERGUSON IS st. Louis, isn’t? NEVER MIND)

This is the sign.

Every year I look to baseball season to heal what broke the year before. Maybe ‘heal’ is to strong a word, or the wrong word, but I knew that baseball in the summer was that thing that forced the pause. Its for everybody - baseball - kings and paupers alike. Our common, American ground. It’s the conversation a CEO can have with his janitors with shared passion, angst, and hope.

Two teams playing in a stadium without fans is the sign the apocalypse is upon us, and I’m not kidding.

The networks, if they had a single human being with vision among them, would be televising this nationally - at prime time. This game should be on every station. It should be rubbed in our faces.

This is where we are, and what we’ve become - a nation without any shared love. That tonight’s game is between the Orioles and White Sox, two of the original six teams, is even more ironic.

The only thing that would help drive the point home even more would be if they played in the empty stadium with throwback uniforms on. Ghosts playing a game in an empty stadium.

Baseball, without the smell of hot dogs, or beer. The crack of the bat echoing off the empty seats, with no cheer behind it. An outfielder bounding and leaping at the perfect last minute to rob the hitter of the homer, and no gasps, no groans, no begrudging clap from the home crowd who knows a miracle when they see it.

No babies sleeping on parents who have kept them out too late, foam fingers hanging from their limp little arm as they are cradled to their father’s shoulder. No old men sitting behind home plate lost in a conversation, but watching the pitcher duel the batter out of their third eye who could tell you the count without looking at the board because they’ve been a part of the game this long.

No walk up music, or guessing which hat is hiding the ball up on the jumbotron. No booing the ump. No sassing the hitter arguing the called third strike for not taking it like a man.

Just millionaires playing a sandlot pastime to put numbers in columns in a book.

This is the beginning of the end.

The flood in Houston back in the 1970’s....Astros vs. Pirates....the game was called off (but nearly played) because of rain. This was the Astrodome. Both teams were at the stadium....500 fans at the most though.
