Why Do Women Wear Makeup?

Posted on 05/01/2015 7:21:55 AM PDT by newb2012

I have always wondered what makes a woman feel beautiful and comfortable stepping out of their homes only after wearing their makeup, most of them despite having flawless and beautiful skin and features. As silly as it sounds, I have always been intrigued by this. Guys, you can have all the fun you want with your comments but I’m really looking to see the girls’ perspective on this.

In normal day to day wear, I think that if someone is noticing the makeup, then the application has failed.

Agreed. I noticed a heck of a lot of makeup packed onto the face of that mayor in Baltimore. I bet she has to scrape it off.

That’s either makeup on her lovely face, or it’s a doggone good Photoshop job.

What a beautiful young lady.

Well, it depends. If it's foundation, the woman is probably using the wrong type and applying too heavily.

But makeup isn't invisible; if it were, there would be no point in wearing it. You're going to see it, even if it's light. But if it's jumping out at you, I would say yes, I agree.

My dad the preacher always said he agreed with the “ole west Texas” preacher who responded to the makeup question with, “If the barn needs paint, paint it.”

Most women do not have flawless skin. Perhaps the ones you are seeing that seem to are just very good with their application of make-up.

We girls wear make-up to accent our good features and downplay our less desirable ones. I do not feel completely dressed, finished without my make-up. Going out without make-up would seem to me like going out in public without brushing my hair.

Same here. I view it as an opportunity to be artistic.

I would not think any worse if she wore absolutely NO makeup.

Does she know that? Have you let her know you think she is beautiful, make-up or not?
