Hot spot or subduction zone activity? The Pacific plate is being subducted in that general part of the US. Hot spots are located far away from subduction zones, or tectonic plate edges.

If it creates an Island, I’ll found a new country and claim it for Freepers.

Unfortunately, I’ll only be able to allow a few men, as I am going to start a new religion, with myself as the leader and I won’t put up with any competition.

It’ll have to be a bit of an isolationist country at first but, as time moves on, I hope to populate it with right thinking people only and I will begin to accept outsiders sometime in the next generation....

The global warming crowd is busy trying to get water temperature readings in the immediate vicinity so that they can add them to their global sea temperature readings.

What we will find is that the volcano sucks down the magma pool in the chamber and the sea floor drops. Then spews the magma out in a major explosion of the caldera. From that you get a volcano of hundreds of years’ duration. Happened several thousand years ago, too. Now overdue.

“Scientists monitor undersea volcanic eruption off Oregon coast”

I’m pretty sure this is a result of global warming. Volcanoes have never been known to erupt underwater until man started burning coal.

Interesting .... sounds like its right on the Cascadia Fault.
I did predict two months ago that the Cascadia would be the next major rip in the Ring of Fire.

Quakes in NW Nevada (Magma movement) and moderate quakes at north and south portions of Cascadia seemed to point at building energy.
