I don't know if I'll place a bet this year or not, but I always watch it and the other two Triple Crown races.
Many betters are talking about American Pharoah. He will probably be the favorite.
If you go by looks -Dortmund is certainly impressive, but he has a good record too.
Then there's the Free Republic hunch plays- Far Right and Firing Line to consider.
Whichever horse gets it done-It's going to be a good bettng prospect. You should get a good price even if you bet the favorite.

Far Right could win this Derby, considering that he is a stone closer, and has Mike Smith aboard.I have a win bet on him, and also Upstart, Mr.Z, Firing Line, etc. among a bunch of $1 superfectas. What I would like to see is Mike Smith riding Far Right just like he rode Zenyatta, waiting for the pace meltdown, and taking to the middle of the track going around the turn as he enters the stretch. Then barrelling down the middle and nipping whoever at the wire.
I like Mr. Z and Upstart as well, and have them in some exactas. I probably have more bets tied to Dortmund than any other horsie.
My long shot bet would be Bolo.
There's been a lot of backside buzz about American Pharoah- That he's going to run away with it.
(They just had Puppy Predictions from last nights Jimmy Fallon show-It's American Pharoah according to the puppies- lol.)
I would like to see Gary Stevens (Firing Line) get there too- just an amazing comeback story .

Went to the Oaks last year, first time at Churchill Downs, in decades.
