Felt my desk move for a few moments about half hour ago, the dog also got up and looked around. Kind of figured it was a mini-quake and was waiting to see if it’d hit the news.

My daughter in the Battle Creek area felt it.

Just north of Lansing, I did not.

From the USGS

I felt one back in the 80s but didn’t notice this one.

We’ve had at least 3 in Michigan that I know of since the 1980’s. Very small, but you do notice when it happens.

I felt it in Northern Indiana, nearly on the border, but had no idea what was going on. Reminded me of just getting back from Japan last week. :)

I felt it in Lansing. The house shook. My first thought was that it was a mild earth tremor

A few years ago, there were people predicting earthquakes which would affect the Mississippi River.

I wish somebody would show these mid-west earthquakes in relation to the Mississippi River.

I think most people would be surprised at the locations of the earthquakes.

Kind of figured it was a mini-quake ...

Not a BHO/Biden/Kerry-enabled islamic nuke prematurely going off in New Fallujah?

Well, there was that historic New Madrid quake that made the Mississippi flow backwards... ~1812, iirc.

Also some have predicted that the United States will be split into 2’s. If that happens we Freedom Loving Conservatives should place a stake and keep out all stinking liberals out - just saying.

The USGS registered it as a 4.0 earthquake centered near Galesburg.

Before the Left Coasters give a raspberry to a 4.0, let it be known that the plate tectonics are radically different between the west, the middle, and the east.

On the west, the plate is like the crust of an apple pie, and it takes a lot more force to cause things to travel and be felt. The plates on the east and middle of the continent is more like the surface of a church bell. A hit from underground, even a small one, travels and is felt much more easily, so a 4.0 is indeed a big thing.
