This part is weird, and might kill it for back packers.
A shot of liquid alcohol is 1/4 the volume of a shot of powdered alcohol
It may be bulkier, but what makes it attractive is the weight savings.

I use Everclear in a backpacking stove... And it is an antiseptic. The extra... well. I leave nothing to waste.
I do like the idea of powdered alcohol for myself. I imagine it will be a flavorless type of spirit like vodka. Good for a mix where you don’t want to carry around a flask.
