First of all, why was this farce being referred to as the “Fight of the Century? The FOTC occured on March 8th, 1971, just for the record.
Secondly, this fight was only 6 years too late. The Cherry Picker Mayweather waited and waited, pissed and moaned, faked retirement and nearly turned himself into a pretzel in avoiding Pacquiao when the Filipino was at his best. Nothing like watching a potential rival getting brutally ko’ed (by J.M. Marquez) and basically lose to age what made him special....THEN agreeing to fight him. Compare this behavior to Muhammad Ali, emerging from his exile in late 1970, taking on two real tough guys in Quarry and Bonavena and then waiting no later than 3/8/1971 to get in the ring with Smokin Joe Frazier. Ali was a badass, Mayweather is a poser...nothing more.

From Tyson about FM:

'"He's very delusional," Tyson told Undisputed Champion Network. "He can't listen. If he was anywhere near that realm of greatness with Ali, he'd be able to take his children to school by himself. He can't take his children to school by himself and you're talking about he's great? Greatness is not guarding himself from the people. Greatness is being accepted by the people.'
