No, quite the opposite. The one starting problem I remember was in a '65 Chevelle with a 327. The exhaust ran close enough to the starter to cause heat-soak problems in the south Louisiana summers. A hot re-start could be problematic, as the starter would drag. A creative mechanic fashioned a heat shield and the problem abated.
I do see the appeal of a modern EFI system on those older cars, though. We forget how quirky automobiles used to be.
