Remember that tree in danger of crushing the deck my co-worker and I were going to take down? Well the drizzle finally stopped enough for us to do it a couple of hours ago-we used one of those nylon tie-down straps that are used to tie down stuff in/on semi trailers-tied it around about mid-way up the trunk, attached the other end to the front hitch of his diesel-with-dualies pickup truck-he notched the tree a little at a time with a chainsaw, then I slowly backed the truck till the strap pulled taut.
We repeated that 4-5 times, and on the last pull, the tree gently came down right where it was supposed to, no muss, fuss or destruction...
