Tom Brady will be suspended by Goodell for role in DeflateGate, announcement next week
NEW YORK DAILY NEWS ^ | 5-8-2015 | Gary Myers

Tom Brady will be the highest profile player ever suspended in the 96-year history of the NFL.

Roger Goodell's decision is expected to be announced next week and it is no longer a matter of if the NFL commissioner will suspend Brady, but for how long he will suspend him.

In conversations I've had with several key sources who always have a good sense of what goes on at 345 Park Avenue, there is little doubt Goodell considers Brady's role in DeflateGate a serious violation.

The NFL is convinced, according to sources, that connecting all the dots of the evidence supplied by Wells leads to one conclusion:

Brady cheated.

He can just suspend them at will?

He can but there is an appeals process.

Actually, I'd rather have these questions determined by the $$$$ than by some arbitrary busybody who thinks some "loss of Institutional control" -- defined by a one-time "standard" -- occurred.

I still don't know what O-State or USC did wrong, and I have no idea why the NCAA removed Penn State's games for a scandal that had nothing to do with cheating, on-field performance or eligibility violations. And for that matter, I don't understand why the NCAA still hasn't acted against UNC for a case that involves at least three thousand cases of academic fraud.

If I had my druthers, Colleges and Universities would not be part of this business at all. Baseball does just fine without it.

A small piece of the story that I heard this morning for the first time was that not all the Patriots’ footballs were under the supposed ‘legal’ limit. A few were over.

Also not all the Seahawks’ footballs were UP to the legal limit. A couple were under.

Buncha b.s. blown up over nothing other than a loathing for the Patriots by teams who have had their buts whipped by the swaggering, in your face, no-apology champions.

If you are going to take action against someone, you should first know that they actually did something.

The league has text messages between those inflating the balls that clearly indicated Brady requested the balls be deflated. Brady refused to provide cooperate and provide his text messages or emails.

When Brady speaks on the issue, it is as obvious as it is with Hillary, that he's lying.

Perhaps Brady should get the same penalty as Aaron Rodgers who has admitted to having his game footballs overinflated.

Then isn’t “The Deflator” the person who actually broke rules?

At Brady's request. Every QB knows precisely how much he wants the ball to weigh.

Yeah, when the Colts were on off., Brady sneakily switched balls. The Colts were helpless with a normally inflated ball. Uh...wait....the Colts played with the same ball in the first half? ....really?.....Well, it was a close game right?....The Colts got killed even though the balls were inflated to normal weight at halftime? Never mind.

That was my reaction at the time. They should not cheat more often and they would kick everybody's butt....oh....wait.....they did.

Seems Brady should sue if he is innocent.

We are such a nation of distractions.

If not turning over his phone is punishable, then punish him for that. At least that is something they have proof of.

There is proof the balls were deflated and that ball boys deflated them at Brady's request.

I wouldn’t have turned over my phone either.

Hillary wouldn't have, either.

That sounds pretty damn weak to me.

It would have been a lot stronger if he had cooperated with the investigation as he is required to do. I would not be surprised if he gets more punishment for his obstruction than for the actual "crime" (which, let's face it is pretty minor).

"Goodell can suspend players for actions or suspected actions he believes are detrimental to the game."

What happens when he, himself, and the anti-Patriot cabal of ex-Jet coaches, etc ., now working in the League Office, become the single-most detrimental instruments to the NFL?

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

The NFL has to cover their asses by suspending a white guy for allegations that have never been proven in order to support the suspension of Ray Rice

The league already did that when they suspended Saints' coach Sean Payton for year.

Brady isn't going to be suspended indefinitely like Rice was.

If Goodell had any integrity he would have come out and said "we will never know" and left it at that.

That is like saying Hillary wasn't hiding anything when she destroyed her server and the emails on it.

The the Board of Directors of the NFL can fire him. Any more questions?

If he did what he’s accused of it’s not even on the same level as a pitcher in baseball throwing a spit ball. The whole affair Is ridiculous.

If Brady deliberately cheated then what do you think should happen to him?

It has to be proven Brady cheated first. I'd say by his smugness during his interview recently, he's guilty as hell. Still, being smug isn't proof.

Where's the proof he cheated?

Not to bludgeon a lump of carrion, but it's actually been quite some time since you were just a "lurker" here... if, indeed, you ever were. Perhaps the nomenclature carries no significance beyond the handle by which we all grasp your insights...
