Nothing to worry about folks. The gator limped back in to the swamp. It was missing some parts though.

Sounds like the driver who hit the gator decided to stop in the traffic lane.

“Probably wanted to pick up dinner.”
Or thought he’d just ran over somebody.

Stopping in a traffic lane, if the vehicle can be moved at all, is a bad idea.
Get out of traffic lanes if you can.

This happened to us in 1998 on I-10 outside Baton Rouge. Semi couldn't avoid the gator, hit a car and turned over. We were there six damn hours waiting for everything to be cleaned up.

I smell a wrongful death lawsuit. Stopping in the middle lane of an expressway at night, and it sounds like he failed to turn his four way flashers on. That sounds like lawyer bait.

Stopping in a traffic lane, if the vehicle can be moved at all, is a bad idea. Its worse than a bad idea. He didn't even hit the gator bad enough to kill it outright so, the vehicle had to be operable. Some people shouldn't drive.

The gator was wrapped up in the rear wheels of the van. I-10 is 3 lanes wide plus two drivable shoulders, so the driver of the car was probably driving too fast and not paying attention. Drivers in that stretch of road at that time of the night will often drive at 85+ mph.

Probably more gators than pedestrians long about there. Could have damaged the van so badly that it was undrivable.

That one is funny. I remember when it was going around in the early 90’s via cassette. I still laugh every time I hear it.
