It What would living on another planet, outside of our solar system be like? This artist's illustration imagines what it could be like to live on the planet Kepler-186f. Credit: Danielle Futselaar
Looks like the Jersey Pine Barrens. But with personality. Christy orbiting is a nice touch.
Can’t see the forest for the trees?
This is news? On Star Trek we learned there are numerous Class M planets. These planets have attractive females to keep Captain Kirk occupied. These planets all have humanoid life. And everyone speaks English on these planets.
Of course our first order of business would be to eradicate all of the local flora and fauna — just to be safe.
Oh, I dunno. Mail service would be about the same.
Yeah, but if you're not a regular cast member, you are going to die 5 minutes after beaming down with the rest of the landing party.
Maybe liberals would want to migrate there? Then they could build their Utopian society from scratch. Without any interference from opposing politicians, without interference from voters who might just elect conservative candidates, without constraints from our existing capitalist economic infrastructure and people’s ingrained attitudes.
A place like this should be heaven on earth to liberals. No one to stand in the way of creating their Nirvana.
Amusing speculation. However given the laws of physics no biological or functioning mechanical entity could reach them from us or us to them. However Earth has been transmitting huge amounts of analog data for the past century and huge amounts of digital data for the past thirty. wold not be far fetched in the next thirty years to receive transmissions from a distant civilization which in turn is linked with a chain of other distant civilizations. We however can never visit them nor they visit us.
“kill every living thing”
Before strip-mining it naked? Of course my horse. We’re not savages.
lol
From the article;
“Measurements suggest that Kepler-186f is 11 percent larger than Earth, though it’s not possible to pinpoint the exoplanet’s gravity without knowing its composition. If the exoplanet were “rocky” like Earth (made up of one-third iron and two-thirds silicate rock, water and ice), its gravity would be similar to Earth’s, according to calculations by researchers.”
Gravity is a Bi88h.
Where dat CVS be?
Her crew would burn those forests to the ground then send a request back to Earth for disaster relief.
I’m turning my radio off as soon as their ship clears Earth’s atmosphere.
“Yeah, but if you’re not a regular cast member, you are going to die 5 minutes after beaming down with the rest of the landing party. “
Only if you are wearing a red shirt. . . .
Interstellar not intergalactic, someday.
