The selector type they used reminds of HK91 & G3 rifles.

Ah, but the Germans actually put the three functions on one lever accessible by the firer’s thumb without removing the hand from the grip - like the M-16/M4, FN-FAL, and pretty darn near every other modern firearm..

I actually met the Director of Izhmash in Paris years ago and he never had an explanation for why nobody in all of Russia couldn’t design a better safety/selector setup for the AK family. Lucky for us, I guess.
