Word For The Day, Friday May 15, 2015
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
scroop [skroop]
-vi
1.to emit a harsh, grating sound:
-n
2. a scrooping sound.
3.ability to make a rustling sound added to silk or rayon fabrics during finishing by treating them with certain acids.
[1780-90; blend of scrape and whoop]
Merrily we scroop along, scroop along, ....
Not real sure if that’s worth anything, but it’s only a scroop from the bottom of the barrel.
My kid had a bad cough and difficulty breathing, the Dr. said “It’scroop”
(Looking down, whispering)
whoop
This just in....
Death to Tsarnaev.
Good Riddance.
Thank you SoothingDave for filling in for me. I am finally back online. My computer has been scrooping for 3 days. Finally it is making sense again.
I will do a three words puzzle Saturday morning to make up for my missing today.
2. a scrooping sound.
How can you define a word by using the same word?****
Some words just mean themselves. Cat, for example. /s
Home from invoicing and collecting...
Ever since he was elected
By koolaid drinking fools
Poverty pimps and moochers
Have been his favorite tools
Along with blabbing on TV
Almost each and every day-
Most of us hardly listen to
What is just scroop anyway
Even the left is now annoyed
With some of what he’s saying
Maybe they know how we’ve felt
Over six years of his braying...
LOLOLOL!
Of course it also can mean a tractor, or a bulldozer! ;)
Or a cat could be a catamaran. So if a sailing vessel, like a sloop, can be the hull thing, then a catamaran would be twice the hull thing.
Or a Female.
Cat
Cat Call
Cat House.
Good catch!
