Yep, cast #2, after Chevy Chase left.

it used to be the passing of the years...now the decades come ..and the decades go

It used to be the passing of billable hours. Now, it's trash night to trash night... "Whoa! It's trash night again? So soon?"

Last night, on the weekly cooking thread, part of the discussion revolved around kitchen gadgets. I wrote that I was really looking to replace my “Bass-O-Matic”. I started to think I must be getting old...

I went into two stores at Christmastime looking for molassess. In the first major chain grocery, the young man who stocked that aisle had never heard of it. In the boutique grocery, the young man directed me to the maple syrup. Can't find gingerbread mix any more, either.

Dan Ackroyd, Waring Blender, and a dead fish. In a contest of SNL Ackroyd classics it contests with Julia Child severs an artery and Lord Pinckney’s drool cup. Those were days when their sketches could induce a seizure and a hernia from how hard they made you laugh. And best thing about that photo ... no Chevy Chase.

You may remember the TW3 ditty about thermonuclear war “We’ll All Fry Together When We Fry”.

Everytime I think about wringer washers the old saying my dad used whenever a woman would get upset about something - “Well, she must have gotten her t** caught in the wringer”.

OMG, I thought my family was the only one who said that! (drunk uncle to Granny)...

I can honestly say, growing up in the 50s, that was the raciest thing I ever heard in my childhood. I pity today's children, so awash in filth all the time.

Pikers. You should go back and see the cast of LAUGH IN.
Or father back to see the cast of THE GARY MOORE SHOW,
Or farther back to see THE MILTON BERLE SHOW.
I could go farther back but we did not have a TV before then.
And do you remember THAT WAS THE WEEK THAT WAS?

You haven't lived:

Chevy Chase belongs with them but came in later - but he is IMO part of the best ever.

Do you remember how hard you laughed at him doing weekend update with those looks?!

I just removed from a dark corner of my pantry a sealed bottle of “Grandma’s Molasses - Robust Flavor” (a product of Mott’s, USA, Div of Cadbury Beverages, Inc, Stamford, CT.) The label has no expiration date but it does have a bar code: 0 14800 71116 5. There are also several recipes and a phone# for a “satisfaction guarantee”: 800-426-4891.

No telling how long it’s been lurking back there in the bowels of my pantry.

I remember being so confused when Ward Bond died in Nov of 1960. I loved Wagon Train and after he died he kept on showing up in episodes well into Feb of 1961. At one point I questioned my parents if he had really died.

Sid Ceasar and Imogene Coca

Great family comedy!

...and the writers that show had,

“Among the writers who wrote for Caesar early in their careers were Mel Brooks, Neil Simon, Larry Gelbart, Carl Reiner, Michael Stewart, Mel Tolkin and Woody Allen. “
