Rain plays a factor in those time differences. The difference was nearly 4 seconds. That's a lot. Also, sloppy and muddy are two very different things. Sloppy is loose and actually quite fast. Muddy is thick like cement. Put your foot in, it's hard to get out. I've walked on both and know first hand.
