Lou Dobbs on Roger Goodell's Failure (Deflategate)
Lou Dobbs ^ | 12 May 15 | Lou Dobbs

Posted on 05/16/2015 5:19:02 PM PDT by big'ol_freeper

Roger Goodell is now leading the NFL from behind, trying to preserve his job at all costs. Whether to the truth, to proportionality, to fairness and balance, or further immense cost to the NFL itself. Coercive leadership without regard to consequence, wielding power without regard for facts and truth is far more consistent with the authoritarian tone and style. That seems to have become the preferred style of liberal Washington. And I think this time Goodell has provoked a public relations battle, a legal battle that he will lose. And in losing those battles, he may well lose his job. Appropriately, in my opinion.

This will cost the NFL a lot of money in the end. If he were a DA he'd be charged with wrongful prosecution.

How much, a few M? NFL is nothing but Showbiz: No such thing as bad publicity.

This has seemed more and more like some kind of internal NFL war and not really about underinflated footballs at all. With a multi-billion operation and Goodell’s $40 million salary, perhaps it’s not a surprise.

I don’t think it’s going to cost any money. Nobody is going to stop watching football because of it. But it’s got a good chance to cost Goodell his job. This was just a badly handled thing from the minute they got that letter from the Colts.

Failure? Seems that Roger finally got it right this time.

Yeah. Like that Tour of France cheat, Lance Armstrong. People kept asking, “Five times? C’mon, he’s doping!”

And he would strenuously deny the charges, until finally it was shown that, well—he was doping. Brady was cheating.

Conclusion. New England:France. Same=same. heh

Yep. Not only will Brady get the suspension overturned, but this will end up being the final nail in Goodell’s coffin.

Goodell is the one who brought Pink October to the NFL which is an attempt to feminize football. For that reason alone he should go.

Good point! I had forgotten that.

And before any yahoos jump in calling me a NEW fanboy, I’ve been anti-Goodell going back to the Ray Rice fiasco last year. And I’m also on record on here as being a 49ers fan.

Goodell’s a complete tool; he should have been gone long ago.

“Yep. Not only will Brady get the suspension overturned, but this will end up being the final nail in Goodell’s coffin.”

Not likely. Problem with that is Goodell’s actions against Brady has popular support including the owners, backed up by solid text evidence. “since when is a ball boy a “deflator” when they’re job is to inflate footballs” After the Ray Rice and spygate slaps on the wrist he’s finally being seen as doing something correctly. I don’t see the masses lining up at the NFL office calling for his ouster.

Brady on the other hand is seen as a whiner, when other players who have also been suspended took their suspensions like men.

I’ve seen your anti-NEW posts, so you have your agenda. That’s your thing.

I’m not seeing too many people that think a misdemeanor offense with a penalty starting at $25,000 (that’s IF an offender is guilty) somehow equates to the punishment Goodell and his gang handed down.

“Brady on the other hand is seen as a whiner, when other players who have also been suspended took their suspensions like men.”

“Men” like Jonathan Vilma who Goodell also tried to screw over and got his 16 game suspension overturned?

Ok.

Goodell picked the wrong player and wrong owner to cross.

I just have to state it somewhere: in my 66 years, I have never before seen anything even approaching how overblown this miniscule story has become. MUCH ado about nothing.

No, Deanna Favre brought in the breast cancer awareness stuff 2 years before Goodell took the job.

What about the first round pick fine? Any way to appeal that, because, damn.

I saw a lawyer on a TV show that supposedly Kraft could appeal it in court. It would be unprecedented though.

Will he go nuclear? I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

When NEW plays IND this season, I hope NEW beats them worse than the 72-0 Nagasaki CHI laid on WAS back in 1940.

It was 73-0! And it should have been more, there were 3 missed PATs and a failed 2-point conversion.

If any team did that today there would whining about “running up the score” like we’re talking about *u**ing pee wee football or something.
