Ordinary pepper spray is merely provacative, like shooting one with a .22. There is a high octane version formulated specifically for grizzly bears. I know this only because a former co-worker of mine has a brother who is to the study of grizzly bears what Jane Goodall was to the study of gorillas.

Outfitters in grizzly bear country know the difference. Most of us do not.
