When Franklin went to Paris he tried to help his countrymen not sell them out.

"Kerry: Ben Franklin Could Not Be Confirmed to Office If He Lived Today"
That's a bad assumption with the standard set as low as it is now, otherwise kerry would be spending his day cleaning Teresa's house.
To: Olog-hai
In other words to be confirmed to office today one would need to be like Kerry... A TOTAL IDIOT!

Of course he couldn’t. He was far too intelligent to compete with the morons we have in government now - elected by cretins.

At a reception at the State Department that marked the U.S. taking over the chairmanship of the Arctic Council, Secretary of State John Kerry said that if Benjamin Franklin lived today and was nominated for office he would never be confirmed
Probably the first thing *Kerry has ever said that is true. None of the founders could get elected or appointed to anything today. For neither party would have them and no press would ever cover them.
To: Olog-hai
Does he mean similar to Bush 2 waiting until running for his 2nd term before his nominees were confirmed by a Democrat Senate?
To: Olog-hai
It must be something about Massachusetts politicians and Benjamin Franklin (who escaped from Massachusetts as a young man). Kerry's comments are mild compared to some of the things John Adams said about Franklin.
Franklin was a genius and a patriot. Kerry is a dolt and a traitor. So they have very little in common. The only areas Kerry may excel BF are windsurfing and speaking French (BF thought he knew French but it seems the French were sometimes unsure what he was saying).

Ben Franklin was very frugal and believed in fiscal conservatism.

Ol’ Kerry seems like he’s taken a dislike of Franklin because he acted like a MAN...

Conversely, Kerry wouldn’t be confirmed to any office in the 1780’s.
