It didn’t even look like a very big gator. What was it, six foot long?

They serve no purpose whatsoever but to kill.Aww...c'mon...they have a purpose in the hierarchy of things. Removing the gator from the order of things would have consequences.
Now that stinking fire ant...whole 'nother story.
I cannot for the life of me understand their damned purpose whatsoever.
But I never had a fire ant tear the bumper off my truck.
So...

The gator should have gone for the front tire and then wait for him to come out and change it.

Gators keep our ponds open, otherwise they would choke up completely with weeds in our year-round growing season. If it wasn’t for the big gator[s] in the lake across the field from me, it would be impossible to fish in it. They create prime habitat- deep holes- for largemouth bass.
They keep the adult Muscovy ducks in check in neighborhood ponds, though snapping turtles kill more ducks, going after the ducklings.
Out here away from town they also eat loose and stray dogs which helps in protecting our kids and also our livestock, especially turkeys and chickens. Dogs are a bigger threat than gators, and other people’s loose dogs kill a lot of livestock so it warms the cockles of my heart to see a chicken-eating dog stuffed in a gator’s fridge- [under a submerged log] for its later consumption.

I would think that gators of a size to take a chicken killing dog would be big enough to take a child.

Talking about gators - or muzzies?

Agree. Fire ants could go, too.
Have you heard of ‘crazy ants’?

Holy cow! That more-or-less medium-sized gator tore that flimsy truck a new one!
