A 21-year-old airman has been identified as the shooter early this morning at the Wal-Mart Supercenter in south Grand Forks.
Marcell Willis was on active duty at Grand Forks Air Force Base, according to a police statement released this afternoon.
Police are still investigating the motive behind the shooting, but there doesn't appear to be a link between Willis and the store employees, Grand Forks Police Lt. Derik Zimmel said.
According to police, Willis entered the store, 2551 32nd Ave. S., just after 1 a.m. and shot two employees, including one fatally. He also shot but missed another Wal-Mart employee before fatally shooting himself.
A 63-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman were victims in the shooting, but police have not said the extent of the injuries. It appears one died since police have announced two people died in the incident. Altru Hospital announced one patient was in satisfactory condition. . .

Maybe drugs?
With the name “Marcell,” I’m assuming he’s black. But I can’t imagine any reason that even a recent convert would go into a Walmart at 1 am to shoot it up. I’d say he either has mental problems or drug problems.

Seeing his photos, I’d say emotional problems.
He’s a good looking guy, has a nice face, should have been happy, but a lot of gay men (which people here are saying he was) are simply unhappy.
I wish they wouldn’t kill themselves but if they do, I wish they wouldn’t try to take out other people as well. Suicides often do, unfortunately. They feel it will make their own suicide look more spectacular. With suicides, it’s all about “MEEEE.”
This is why Walmart shouldn’t sell guns and ammo. /s

I can’t tell due to the poor resolution of the photo. It should reflect his AFSC—Air Force Specialty Code—same as an MOS in the Army.

Based on his appearance, he looks like a nice person.
Depression can hit anyone for a variety of reasons that have nothing to do with homosexuality, muslims, racism, or any other labels we can stick on this guy.
The fact he was serving his country tells me he was on the right track at one time.
