LYNDHURST (WABC) -- A police-involved shooting at the Lyndhurst Public Library in New Jersey left one person dead Friday.
The officers involved were transported to the hospital for trauma, but were not physically injured.
Officials say the building also houses the police department, fire department and courthouse, which is why the response was so quick.
"There was nothing else they could have done," said Chief James O'Connor, Lyndhurst Police Department.

I think those published stats are inaccurate. That town is quite diverse. Apartments skew the stats, IMHO
They seemed a bit “extreme” to me.
This afternoon a black male fellow tried to rob a check cashing business in Odessa, Texas. There were no police present. The business owner killed the robber to death.
He killed him dead?
And he’s not only merely dead. He’s really most sincerely dead!
ABC has the best news writers. Syntax, subject, suspect, charges, follow through; ABC kids are the best.
One of Obama’s sons in a library? Obviously a fake story.
Mr. Robber has now checked into the Maggot Motel.
Not in Georgia they aren’t.
Problem is that staff ARE gun free. Wish they weren’t
I had a guy swing a skateboard at me the other day. Local Constabulary caught him.
Guess I’m reading the law wrong. I looked it up on my CCW app and government buildings are listed. I assumed libraries were included.
In Georgia, any state or local government building that doesn’t use electronic security (like the courthouse has) you can open or conceal carry.
That’s why we just have a carry license.
Problem is that the personnel policies directly prohibit staff from carrying. Otherwise I would.
I am sure other states have different laws.
Thanks for the clarification. Gun laws are so convoluted.
