A young Dallas mother suspicious of activity in her apartment installed a camera, and over the weekend, her fears came true.
That camera caught a nighttime intruder in her bedroom stealing as she slept at the Hampton Terrace apartments, where she's lived nearly three years.
The intruder stole money, but put some of it back before sneaking out of her apartment the same way he came in.
The victim asked that FOX 4 not use her real name due to concerns that the intruder may try to look her up, so we call her Alice.
I started noticing things coming up, missing a little bit before of Christmas last year, said Alice.
One of the things that went missing was money from her 5-year-old daughter's piggy bank.
The only thing I could think of was someone was coming with a key and entering into my home and taking things, said Alice.
She says she contacted Dallas police and they told her, I didn't have any proof of anything; I just know what I have, said Alice.
Money kept going missing, so Alice's mother bought a camera that works through an app viewed on her cell phone.

OK, I guess he would also recognize himself in the video. Nevermind.
If he has half a brain, he now knows that she knows he’s breaking in, and will find another target.
Stupid all around.
Somebody should buy or rent her one or more of the “Home Alone” movies for some ideas on dealing with that kind of people.
She calls me Smooth-finger Sam
We keep each other limber
By doin' the bam-bam-bam
LOL
Wouldn't law enforcement official then declare that she was "laying in wait" for them and seek prosecution for assault?
Not necessarily so.
Watch the video and observe that the camera has a circle of light emitting diodes surrounding the lens, more than likely infrared, and more or less standard for this type of security device. To an IR sensitive camera a little IR illumination makes things as bright as day...
declare that she was “laying in wait” for them and seek prosecution for assault?
= = = = = = = = = =
You must not have ‘waded’ through my whole text. At the beginning I said it sounded barbaric and near the end I said that I would probably have to face my peers over the matter.
That would be the ‘action’ I would take - without admitting I was ‘lying in wait’ etc....
Remember the key words in these proceedings should be “I feel woozy, please call the rescue squad and, by the way, my lawyer will meet us and then we can chat”.
This in Texas? What an idiot. Would love to catch someone doing this and empty the magazine
I recall a case in Houston about a decade ago where a home owner (3 story “townhome” kind of dwelling) dealt with some intruders (who jumped his fence and broke the door coming in).
He had his family go upstairs and he shot and killed one on the interior staircase inside his home. The other took off but later surrendered to police for testimony. The homeowner was charged and the invader was not. The homeowner was later cleared but he was not even permitted to know the name of the accomplice. He said he was worried of reprisal and the police’s only suggestion was that he maybe circle the block twice when coming home at night.
Good grief! About three years ago in Midland a hood with a ball bat broke into a home while a 19 year old resident was home. Hood had a bat and resident had a 12 gauge. Mr Thug checked into the maggot motel.
A couple of months ago two of Sharpton’s teen followers broke into a Midland apartment. They threatened the woman living there and when they included her little kid she was able to get a butcher knife and go Ginsu on both. One of them bled out. Boo hoo.
A guy running a check cashing business in Odessa eradicated an armed robber yesterday. I visited the locale this afternoon. The orange marking paint made me feel good.
This is not mine; she is camera shy.
So she is worried, so no name, yet he knows where she lives? OK.
What is a good camera to get?
I want to point it out a windows to view my front entrance. Small enough not to be noticed. Also able to be view on my cell phone and also record the footage.
I’ve got two dogs and sleep with my shotgun.
