Had an icon appear and I guess I’ll try it. Hopefully there would be a way to go back to Windows 7 if I don’t like it.

If you’re really concerned about it ... buy a blank hard drive, clone your existing system disk onto it, make sure the clone boots and runs properly, THEN try it. On the clone. Keep the original as a drop-in reversion to the current state.

I'm a bit of a PC geek and have 3 partitions. One WinXP, one Windows 7 and one Windows 7 already upgraded to Windows 10 preview.
If you're happy with your Windows 7 I wouldn't bother upgrading.
