“There is a plague of homeless, mentally ill, gang bangers at almost all the stations. I have been chased, hit, had bottles thrown at me just to get a cigarette. Every 7/11, Racetrac and QT along the way is filled with camping bums. We are talking LOTS and very aggressive.”
I can’t stop at the 7-11 on Ross Ave. without a bum asking for money.
Shooter got lucky...high stakes move. It appears that CHL types can carry on DART. He needs to count his blessings and next time settle arguments in a less public setting.
‘As many as two dozen people were on the SINGLE-CAR train...
Well, THIS is what the Taxpayers should be MOST pissed about! Squandering their tax dollars!’
Great point - and tell me again why this is better than a bus? (rhetorical question). I can tell you that a bus can actually change or vary its routes based on passenger needs, and a bus does need to own lanes right down major streets. And the capital and on-going costs for buses are about 10% of that of trains.
Oh yea, having rail is a requirement for being a “World Class City”. That’s the answer.
I don’t mind a bum once in awhile but these are druggies ...just everything....and 5 or 6 at a time.
Get your CHL.
Do these train extend to Fort worth? Or do they have own system. ...
****************************
Ft. Worth doesn’t have a light rail system.
DART does run a train called the Trinity Railway Express between the downtown areas of Dallas and Ft. Worth. It runs on the long-existing train tracks that go through Irving and all of the other Mid-Cities. There are stations in Irving, South DFW airport, Bell Helicopter main plant in Hurst, etc.
DART also has a rail line that runs near I-35E up to Denton from Dallas.
