For those who wish to see the game developed to its full potential fear not, as Bethesda has come out and said that this isnt going to happen. Responding to a user in a NeoGAF thread, Bethesda community manager Matt Grandstaff put it simply: It is not coming to 360 and PS3, the stuff were doing will never work there.
Not only does this mean that we dont have to worry about Fallout 4 not maximizing its potential graphical and otherwise but this puts a number of other rumors to bed as well. A now-removed post shared on Reddit nearly a year ago claimed that not only would there be a last-gen version of the game, but it would have a save transfer feature only available to players on older consoles.
As we saw in the trailer released last week, Fallout 4 will be set in Boston a location hinted at in Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. The overall tone of the series is still there, but this new location seems a bit more technologically advanced than the previous locations gamers have explored.

If Rockstar Games rereleased a revamped GTA:Vice City for Playstation 8, or whatever, I would consider it. I loved that game.
Well its not really bad what they are doing the PS3 and xbox 360 are inferior to the next gen consoles and focusing development on one generation of consoles and PC would cut down on development time.
I don't want to buy A PS4 or Stasi Xbox One!
This is the kind of Crap that they do to get people to buy Consoles.
I don't know when Backward Comparability went out the window, I guess when they found more money to be made.
PlayStation 1 games were compatible with The PS2.
Why not the PS3? They Still Use DISCS!
Hell, Even GameCube games are compatible with the Wii, and They use Totally different kinds of dics, one is so much smaller than the other.
The graphics in the trailer still looked really dated though.
Hopefully they will improve or otherwise they can be modded.
A few points”
The PS3 simply lacks the power needed. Not enough ram to handle the textures, not enough GFX chip to push a decent frame rate and not enough CPU to juggle it all.
The thing is, as I learned with my PC Skyrim modding experiences is that HD textures will inhale gigabytes of ram FAST. Making Lydia pretty comes at a lot of overhead.
The other thing is that the PS3, awesome as it can be, is a nightmare to code for and was widely hated by developers to deal with. Beth would literally have to write 2 games from scratch as little or most likely, no code would port.
It is time buddy O’mine. There is A PC in your future. It is worth it. Trust me.
If you played on a computer, you would never have this problem.
I want your Lydia mod.
And a beach blanket and baby oil.
Bring an iron lung too. You’re gonna need it when she’s done with you.
Nexus.
Caliente’s CBBE body
Skyrim Beautiful Followers
Ultra Skimpy Silverlight Armor
Bob’s Boots
She’s not into Baby oil though...;)
I have a PS4 still sitting in the box from my birthday in April. My wife keeps offering to set it up. I tell her do whatever you want, but she is too lazy to follow through.
I got a new nvidia 780 video card for Christmas, then loaded about 220 Skyrim mods and finally got them to work. Game looks plays amazing. I play about 4 hours every few days, no big rush. I am currently level 8 doing Riften.
Tell me a good PS4 game and I will finally get her to hook it up.
No idea. I’m PC now. (Who knew? ;) When Persona 5 releases thats a must though.
Skyrim fully modded on a good system is a thing of beauty.
Norm, what in your opinion, is a good PC system? What system requirements would you insist on having for playing on a PC?
My wife just told me we have these games:
- The Evil Within
- Wolfenstein: The New Order
- Motorcycle Club
- Devil May Cry: Definitive Edition
- Resident Evil: Revelations 2
I told her Hook it up!
She walked away.
I’m not a mega geek and only pay attenton to the newest toys when I need them. But my sys will run fully modded Skyrim wide open and only drop under full 60 FPS with fog and grass mods active.
My 2 YO system is as follows:
Asus Sabertooth motherboard with 16 megs (8 at the moment as 2 ram chips died)
I7 4 Ghz CPU
500Gig Caviar HD
128 Gig SSD
Asus 7950 HD2 GFX card
Liqod cooled (one of the bolt on generic prefab deals, not a custom job)
All of the above could be built used under a grand I think.
800W Power supply
Rack case
I was telling KC I might either double up and SLI the GFX for Fallout 4 or get a new high end card as it will likely want more power. I’ll never go back to lo rez gaming.
I get the feeling you could fap to Roadkill Laz. So Lydia modded would be a bonus ;)
Ok, thanks.
Think of it this way. I played All the Beth games on PS3. I loved them. When I got them on my PC and modded them it was like a whole world opened up.
That extra power and resolution is so so so so worth it. It will increase your enjoyment of gaming more than you can imagine. Being able to just redline all the settings and go without the whole “Well....maybe if I skimped on X I would be OK...”
Don’t. This is one of those ‘do it right the first time kinda things. You don’t need the $5000 magazine test box. But a solid sys is a world of happy.
Most important: GFX card. Thats the biggie.
