I'm American. The Americans I know are American. We don't shoot each other at pool parties, family reunions, 8th grade graduation parties, Stop the Violence rallies...

And, my ancestors came here from somewhere else, but that has no bearing on my status as American. I’ve been to England. I am about as English as “African-Americans” are African.
