BEIJING (Reuters) - China on Wednesday rebuffed comments by U.S. real estate mogul and presidential contender Donald Trump that China is stealing U.S. jobs through crafty business practices, saying trade between the two countries was win-win.

I agree with what you’re saying, to a point.

We are all concerned with big money corrupting our political system.

So the answer is: a big money candidate.

But that still doesn’t answer the big question. Why is nobody else standing up for American businesses?

Trump seems to have the entire subject all to himself at the moment.

He’s it. We are facing a very serious challenge in America today, and nobody is even talking about it.

Trump is now talking about it.

And he’s running. Everyone else best start getting on this subject, or Trump will walk away with the election.

Not that I object. But really we should have a contest.

Here’s the problem with all this “trade deficit” stuff: There is no “American” trade deficit with “China” or with any other country. Who is this individual called “America”? Point him out to me; I’d like to meet him.

The trade deficit is an aggregate measure, an aggregate measure of millions of individual decisions to buy certain products produced in certain other countries. Meaning, the sum total of when you go to the store and buy a made-in-Wherever product, and I go to the store and buy a made-in-Wherever product, and so on....

No one, certainly not “America” or “China,” holds a gun to your head, or my head, or anyone’s head, forcing us to buy a particular product from Wherever.

If I buy a Toyota Camry for $25,000, it’s true that “America” now has a $25,000 trade deficit with Japan. But the Camry purchase is good for me (else, why did I buy the Camry?); so how is it bad for “America”?

You’ve got a little extra cash on hand and decide to buy a $50,000 Porsche. That Porsche purchase is good for you (else, why did you buy the Porsche?). But now you’ve just added $50,000 to “America’s” trade deficit.

So I’ve made a purchase that increased my well being, and you’ve made a purchase that increased your well being. But “America” is supposedly now worse off, having a trade deficit of $75,000. Who, exactly, is worse off?

If I’m not worse off, and you’re not worse off, then supposedly some “American” from whom we did not buy a car is worse off. But so what? I get to choose from whom I buy a car. At least until ObamaCar is implemented. And do we really want “ObamaCar”?

Think through the logical implications of trade tariffs: Make some products so expensive that you’re forced to buy substitutes that you otherwise wouldn’t want. How can “America” as a country be better off if all American consumers are getting screwed?

Curious why inter-state trade deficits are not an issue. I imagine that among our 50 states, some must have HUGE trade deficits vis-a-vis other states. Where’s the outrage? Where’s the panic?

Strip out the international component, and it’s clear that “trade” is nothing more than one individual trading with another individual (or firm) irrespective of geography. And a tariff on a “foreign” good I want to buy is no different than the 40% excise tax that ObamaCare put on my “Cadillac” health plan, which I can no longer afford. I’m buying “American” (ObamaCare Exchange) insurance now!

So you expect ne to comb thru Ted Cruz’s speeches, pronouncements, news releases and interviews to “prove” to you that he “cares” about business and the middle class? Sorry, I have other fish to fry. You have fingers and eyes.

You missed my point.

Trump is saying we need to bring back, a lot of jobs to America.

Nobody else is saying that. Nobody.

I think he will win, on this message. Nobody else is saying it.

Cruz isn’t saying it. That is why I didn’t originally rush to support Cruz.

That is the issue, completely.

He’s still not saying it.

Now Trump is in this race, and he is saying that, as loudly as he possibly can.

I think he’ll win, both the primary, and the general elections.

Your points are well-taken, but there are other facts and considerations that make it a bit more complex. If for instance a foreign government is subsidizing specific industries in order to make their products cheaper to export, and that government centrally controls labor costs, we aren't competing with them on a level playing field. American or European consumers might get great ‘bargains’ on goods from a country where slaves are used to make the products we are buying. Obviously these aren't the kinds of ‘bargains’ we'd like to purchase, but just how informed are we as consumers?

Cruz has been saying plenty of that and if you had been paying any sort of attention you’d know that. All of you go play out your Trump fantasy while the grown-ups here back serious candidates like Cruz and Walker.

Trump is saying we need to bring back, a lot of jobs to America.

Just like every other candidate says although some say, more accurately, we need to create new jobs. The policy is where Trump differs. He wants tariffs and the other candidates do not.

Tariffs will create new jobs but will also destroy jobs in industries that rely on imported parts. You can't have one without the other. No such thing as a perfect tariff.

I didn’t hear it, when I was making up my mind.

I heard some stuff which was patriotic, but I also saw a lot of evidence he was for sending still more American jobs elsewhere.

I am tired of every politician selling out America, and Americans.

I’m sorry. I want someone to bring jobs right back here. Donald Trump has now foresquare and loudly said, that is exactly what he believes in.

For more than an entire generation, politicians have been saying exactly what Ted Cruz has been saying, and ever more formerly American jobs, have been sent to China.

342 billion dollars worth last year, as far as our bilateral trade deficit. And it’s still growing.

Trump is all alone, saying we need to bring back jobs to America.

He’s it.

I don’t know if anyone else will stand up for Americans on this topic.

But so far, Trump is all alone, and I believe winning the hearts of tens of millions already.

[Cruz has been saying plenty of that...]

The only way America is going to turn around is by seeking the Lord God Almighty. Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord (Psalm 33:12)

America’s leaders have blatantly thumbed their noses at God and the Biblical foundations of America, which made it great.

We need a POTUS who understands the U.S. Constitution and fears the Lord.

TED CRUZ 2016 - For such a time as this

I’ve been waiting to get pointed toward where 2ndDivisionVet, thinks all of the examples of Ted Cruz being for American jobs are.

I’ll ask you as well.

Where are examples of Ted Cruz being for American jobs?

Maybe I’m wrong, but so far nobody in either party, except Donald Trump is saying one peep about US jobs.

Nobody. Not even in the Democrat party. Everyone is completely silent.

Trump is saying what needs to be said. Badly.

But Cringy likes Obamacare.

Have you noticed he never pushes any conservative positions, ever?

Most of them won’t say it because they are bought out by various lobbyists.

With the Republicans they are owned by the Chamber of Commerce (aka - chamber of crony commerce). They are in bed with the government, with the insane tax code, with regulations that they use to destroy small competitors who don’t have lawyers and lobbyists.

If you are aware of ‘globalism’ and ‘crony capitalism’ you will understand the whole thing.

We are just fools that they have to lie to every few years to pull a lever to give the appearance of choice.
