I have serious concerns about the methodology, available at the source. It assumes an even distribution of firearms per capita and multiplies that times each state'd population. I strongly question the assumption of even distribution of firearms between a state whose laws against ownership are oppressive and one whose laws are not.

Really? Germans own as many guns as Texas. I didn’t think people in Germany were allowed to own guns.
The chart shows the state of Oregon as possessing an equal number of firearms as England and Wales.
The authors must not be aware of the fact that the citizens of those countries were disarmed by their government some years ago.
