The mals were an AKC breed here in the 50’s. Been around longer than you think, I think 1890-1900 in Europe.

I’m very aware of breeds and history.

They were not in the public eye until maybe 20 years ago, when it seems Po and MIL started picking them up. Still not big in the public eye.

Wirehaired Pointing Griffons have been around for ages, too, but you hardly even see them at shows. They are not popular, and virtually unknown except us dog wonks. Regardless of registration.
