Did they have to actually shoot him? Couldn't they just wave the gun in his direction and chant a power word or something? Could they not have used some of those magical bullets that change direction in mid-air and then disintegrate before contact? Couldn't they have just given him a good meal and read a couple of chapters of "Walden" to him?

Good point. I wonder if he was unarmed with his hands up. I hope there will be an independent autopsy performed to make sure this is not a civil rights issue.
