A driver accidentally hit the accelerator on his Tesla Thursday night, and plowed into a mom-and-pop liquor store in Sunnyvale.
The crash occurred about 9 p.m. at Liquor and Food Mart at 163 E. Fremont Ave.
The driver, who didn’t want to be identified, told NBC Bay Area that he thought he was hitting the brake when he instead revved up, smashing into the glass panes of the store.
The store owner's son, Jason Matthew, told NBC Bay Area they’d be closed "indefinately" because of the structural damage to the building."To see so much carnage and damage is heartwrenching," he said.
There was no immediate word on whether there would be any fines or arrests.

C’mon, guy, who here HASN’T hit the accelerator instead of the brake and crashed into a liquor store.
(Full disclosure: I crashed a golf cart into an apartment building once for that very reason, but the pedal positions were reversed on that machine.)

Takes two NBC reporters, an Anglo and a Mex, to produce top of the line work like that.
All accidents that get reported in news about hitting buildings and this is only one I remember reporting what kind of driver (Tesla driver) it was. It’s hilarious the measures they go to in trying to take down Tesla. Just like in articles bad about democrats, they never seem to mention the individual is a democrat but tea partier or conservative Christian is the first word in the article. Are they wishing a pox upon Tesla? Because if they are karma is one big bitch.
