Governors, Walker and Christie, as well as former Gov. Perry are going to have to answer for this problem continuing in their states.
In fairness to those governors, the Supreme Court took virtually all authority for immigration enforcement away from the states in that Arizona case.
And cities have a certain degree of autonomy from their states that mirror the Federalist model of states to Washington.
In short, I don’t think a Governor is currently able to do a hell of a lot about this. The Feds are responsible to crack down on localities, and plainly they just aren’t gonna do it.
