Thanks for the heads up but I dont use this type of ammo anyways.....but anyone considering it should see this.

The ammo blew up the gun during testing.

They clearly showed the damage to the firearm from using a plastic cased cartridge

IIRC, The factory round actually blew up in the magazine and sheared the floorplate off.

Pretty stupid idea if the weapon isn’t designed for it.

Close to 60,000 psi chamber pressure got loose in there.

Not a matter of that.

The main problem seems to be using this stuff in rifles with fluted chambers. In essence the case is somewhat unsupported where the flutes are and it causes it to blowout (not as ductile as brass). It should be noted that some guns with fluted chambers such as the HK G3 are problematic with regular ammo (don’t like Winchester .308, for instance. These are not gas operated, but delayed blowback in operation. That explains the PTR91 (CETME, G3 clone)blowup, but not the FN FAL.

Yeah I figure the pioneers of cartridges design settled on brass for a reason. If it aint broke dont fix it. BTW the next vid was Gunny explaining different types of ammo.

I’d like to mic a fired brass case from the FN FAL.

A quick search shows that many pieced together FAL’s (not complete builds by a reputable company) can have headspace problems. Maybe this guy rolled snake eyes.

OK... Important note for later if this stuff ever comes up cheap at a gun show or something.

Thanks for the heads-up!

The pioneers of cartridge design didn’t have high-density polymers to work with.

True that....but if what you are using as a case wont hold the pressure of fireing the projectile...then it useless.

I just cant see using a plastic case based round in any of my firearms.

I will stick with whats tried and true.

I’ve used polymer-case (brass base) ammo before. Performed quite well actually. To my surprise, it actually seemed to clean the chamber: the textured plastic surface apparently scraped crud out.

No where near that if it went off in the mag.

The case ruptured in the chamber, dumped gas into the mag.
