Or, how about our favorite demoRATS holding targets for 1,000 yard Barrett 50 caliber rifle shoot. That’s an Olympic event I’d pay to watch.

One of the reasons I hate NBC’s coverage is because they are too US-centric in their coverage. I remember one year I watched the Canadian coverage and it was so much better.

This is 2015. To hell with TV coverage. Have each event have its own Internet live-stream. Archive the live-streams on the Olympics site (or on youtube). TV networks can broadcast the streams adding their commentary, or people can just watch them directly.

What’s funny is that a significant percentage of athletes from other countries actually do live and train in the US.

The real solution is just have a permanent Olympics site and that should be Athens. Great climate and the original place of the Olympics.

Would be great for them as they can plan these events and the tourism industry would help them financially.

That’s why i say instead of tracking medals by country they should do it by US University attended. I believe if they did that for the last Games, the University of Florida would have won the medal count. I know UF got about 40 medals overall.

Or having Bob Costas lecture us on gun control or other such sports related personal opinions.

[Now that is just crazy enough to work! They could use existing facilities as well...]

It’s a win win. The events would be not be in the same community or country. Local economies would prosper because the Olympic events would be scattered. Plus, the security would be tighter.

Trump could turn it into a money maker although sports excellence doesn’t equate to political strength anymore....probably because it is un PC.

Wimpification of the world.

DFW submitted a bid at one point, was going to use Cowboys Stadium as the host venue, use all the college and pro stadiums around the Metroplex for most of the venues. USOC didn’t like that idea.

That's interesting. Salt Lake used the University of Utah's stadium as the host venue. Maybe it's different between winter and summer games.

Heck, there are plenty of High School Football stadiums they could use.

If we do away with the Olympics how will we have national sports heroes like him:

Oh, on second thought maybe we SHOULD do away with the Olympics!

Watch the Canadian coverage instead in 2016. Olympic broadcasting is one of the few things CBC TV does well. When CTV has the rights, they do it just as well too.

Sure, they focus on Canadian competitors, but at least they give fair coverage to the rest of the world.

Both are certainly superior to NBC.
