If you use a trap, place away from your rose garden/berry patch/etc. It will draw beetles to it. Don’t want that to happen.

That is a 'Green Fig Beetle', not a Japanese Beetle! Japanese beetle are SHINY, not dull like the Green Fig Beetle.

Their population has exploded over the past few years along the Pacific coast.. They are HORRIBLE at flying, often crashing into things or bouncing off objects. If you roll one over they will grab your finger so you can pick them up.

June bugs are brown, aren’t they?

This is the militarized version. Comes in camo.

I see those Japanese beetles everyday this summer in SoCal. Follow Admiral Halsey’s order regarding the Japanese. Kill them. The only good Japanese beetle is a Japanese beetle that has been dead for six months.

I’m telling ya all, the traps will attract beetles from the next county. Instead, hand pick them and drop in a bucket of soapy water til they drown. Bwahahahahahahaha. Or spray with Sevin (carbaryl). Next year plant garlic chives around your roses. Naturally repels JBs.

Haven’t seen any live ones, but we have seen the carcasses of dead beetles like this around my house in Rio Rancho, NM (suburb to Albuquerque).

"Japanese beetle. Nasty destructive pest insect."

As opposed to a German beetle?

Contact the Dept. of Agriculture and they can find out if it is an invasive beetle:
