Wild Horses, the movie, written and directed by Robert Duvall.

Posted on 08/22/2015 5:49:12 AM PDT by LouAvul

Absolutely a propaganda piece defending poor, persecuted, oppressed homosexuals. I was sorely disappointed that an actor of Duvall's stature would create such an awful movie.

Horribly written. Poorly directed. Amateurishly acted. I was interested to learn that the female lead, possibly the worst actor in the bunch, is actually Duvall's wife in real life.

Mr. Duvall, you've had a spectacular career. You don't want to be remembered for tripe like this.

He’s been known to say GD quite often in films though he’s appeared in several Christian movies. I’m beginning to think he’s just a paid actor and doesn’t care who writes his checks. I really expected more out of him be ause he’s been such a good actor in the past.

I have seen it and am in total agreement! Not only was it propaganda, it was simply inferior work.

Aggghhh. That is SUCH a disappointment, if true.

One of the best and most unforgettable movies ever made is the short, made-for-TV adaptation of William Faulkner's Tomorrow, starring Duvall.

I'm sorry to read your review of his latest opus.

Another actor to cross off the list.

Too bad. I liked him in Get Low (based on a true story) and Second Hand Lions.

Poorly directly propaganda? Sounds like an early Oscar favorite!

Well, hell. Regardless, I will always remember two of my favorite westerns....Lonesome Dove and Open Range.

Duvall was indeed terrific in Tomorrow. A few years ago I set out to find a copy and I did, but it wasn’t easy.

Thanks to Madonna, that is now known as, ‘Guy Ritchie Syndrome.’

I have found very few people who know about Tomorrow. I've never forgotten it or its message.

Faulkner at his best is like a stiletto that pierces the heart and mind with a painful, beautiful, unexpected truth.

A few other great movies:

Pride and Prejudice, the Jennifer Ehle, Colin Firth made-for-TV version
War and Peace, the Anthony Hopkins made-for-TV version
Los Olvidados
Seven Samauri, Akira Kurosawa

What are a few of your favorites?

Coming soon “Caring Cutters”

A warm, challenging and compassionate look at the rejection and ostracized lives of those who perform a real and valuable service to the women of America and the dangers they face. Just guess what this movie is about?

This surprises me. I’ve long heard that DuVall was one of the few conservatives in Hollywood. I heard that he’s a member of “ Friends of Abe”, a group of Hollywood conservatives who host a conservative speaker (Rick Santorum, Ann Coulter, Michele Bachmann) every month.

DuVall was excellent in “The Judge” (2014), in which he portrays a judge dying of cancer who has a strained relationship with his hotshot lawyer son, portrayed by Robert Downey, Jr.
