“The premise of your question is irreverent. The question should be is it a good policy and the answer is YES.”

It’s important because the people trying to drive Trump out are the same ones that think we can attract Hispanics in larger numbers if we run a nice guy. Well Romney was a nice guy, but one throw-away line in a debate from almost a year before the election cost him that support.

So given that, Republicans, this round will not be getting that support...and so the question as to whether Trump is handicapping himself in November with Hispanics is irrelevant...as all of the major candidates now have similar baggage.

But you are right, but not doubling down on his self-deportation plan, he left the base with virtually no reason to come out and vote for him - and similar with independents and Dems. He was stuck with only the base to vote for him, and with them demoralized. He’s lucky he did as well as he did.

LOL he only did so because guys like you and I voted for Sarah.

I think Trump can change the entire discussion when it comes to the Hispanic vote. The GOPe thinks that the way to get their vote is to pander to them with amnesty and more immigration. Its a false assumption, the majority of Hispanics want JOBs and a strong economy, secure communities and good education for their kids just like the rest of us.

Trump has started to tap into this and he could blow the hole thing wide open. The dems and the GOPe have done nothing for Hispanics or the black community. There are a lot of low hanging votes out there that Trump can start picking off with minimal effort.
