KEELER TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A 16-year-old has been arrested after he broke into a home, stealing six firearms and over 1,500 rounds of ammunition.
It happened around Thursday between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. at 86358 67th Street in Keeler Township, south of Hartford.
Deputies say this is the second time the home had been broken into this year. Since the first break in, the homeowners installed several security cameras. Deputies were able to review the security video and found that the suspect had likely walked to the home.

Security cameras with motion detection and automatic uploads to remote servers are some of the most valuable additions to home security. A custom firearms safe is another one. I haven’t seen a good one in any store (too easy to cut through). A vault with layers of abrasive resistant (AR) plate and concrete would be better, especially with a good commercial, very heavy duty, mechanical combination lock and bolts.
I have a hard time believing he then walked away with 6 weapons and 1,500 rounds... unless it was all .22 long rifle stuff.

If so, maybe the guy did buy a safe, but it’s on lay-away.
People that stupid (not putting guns in a safe when out) should not be owning guns.

Sen. Schumer (D-NY) proposed an "arsenal license" in 1994. Some of it's provisions were:
Expands definition of firearms to include component parts_receiver, barrel, stock, ammunition magazine, "or any part of the action" (pins, springs, screws, etc.).
Requires a federal arsenal license for a person to possess more than 20 firearms (see expanded definition above) or 1,000 rounds of ammunition.
License is $300 for 3 years. Licensee is subject to the obligations and requirements of licensed dealers, which would include unannounced inspections by BATF.
My security system does just that. Set it off and 8 cameras start recording inside and outside the house. Videos and stills are uploaded and sent to me via email and text.
Our safe weighs about 1,700 pounds and is anchored to the concrete slab. Good luck getting that out without the neighbors noticing something.

Do you lock you knifes, hammers, screwdrivers in a safe before you leave you house? You lock up spare car keys in a safe when not home? Someone may break in and do something with any of those things that can harm others. Think about your stupidity before you post such nonsense on a Conservative website.
The idiot committed multiple felonies in braking in and stealing those guns. You want to blame an innocent homeowner?
The other stupidity resides with the news organization. Posting the residence on the internet! Why not just put up a neon sign saying “Guns inside!”

When .22lr started disappearing, I would buy 1,500 rounds on a trip to Walmart.
Pretty much same here....except my safes are bolted together from inside to each other, to the floor and walls then tack welded together .
Video looking at and away, sensors and systems wireless and hard wired. Sensors are layered in depth varied by type that sequence on and off to preclude surreptitious entry attempts . I back all that with simple stand alone features such as game cameras hidden in the landscaping, physical tell tale trips and tamper devices.
One part of my work is advanced access and disablement of such systems to render safe widgets. My systems as stated are layered in depth by type to provide area coverage of the other sensors.
The funny thing is aside from a few valuables and documents in the safes I really don’t have much, my hobby is catching asshats in high definition video and print media with a date time code embedded .....
The alarm and video systems cost me more than what they protect pretty much.....
