The only diesel within 30 miles of me is biodiesel or truck diesel that have nozzles that do not fit my car.
Biodiesal gets mixed with the oil in the car and can ruin the engine.
Not recommended by dealer or manufacturer of VW
The only way that can happen is if the engine is running too "rich" on bio-diesel as opposed to the regular stuff.
That would imply that the specific gravity of the bio-diesel is lower and that it is injecting too much fuel and there is a residue of material inside the combustion chamber that is then wiped into the piston and contaminates the oil.
I would assume that what they are suggesting is that because the bio stuff is made from vegetable oil, lye and methanol, that the methanol falls out of suspension and it is that which is migrating into the oil. That would sure kill a diesel in short order. I also suspect that because of the methanol content that the bio picks up water from the atmosphere just like E10 gasoline does.
I just love how they gave you a generic answer, short of technical specifics. They should have given you detailed reasons why not to use bio and trusted your intellect.
I don't particularly care for the alcohol based fuels for several reasons.
1) they have lower energy levels and I therefore consume more of them that petroleum based fuels.
2) they produce high NOx (oxides of Nitrogen) which are much worse than Carbon Monoxide.
3) they use materials that are also food stocks and it drives up food prices unnecessarily
It's too bad that you don't have a source of regular petroleum based diesel.
