I love the Deep South but sorry, the Cracker Barrel just leaves me cold. It even lacks the Southern hospitality I am accustomed to down there. And the "fried Okra" they serve there isn't what my grandmother made.
Now you mention Alabama and fried catfish in the same reply.
If you are familiar with the Guntersville area of Alabama, check out the Catfish Cabin on Route 431. I try to stop there every time I'm down that way. All you can eat catfish for very reasonable price, along with hush puppies and real Southern sweet tea.

The Blueridge Parkway is a great drive, but when I was there as a teen it was so foggy we could’t see much scenery.
