Thing is some animal attacks occur so quickly that you can’t even really access anything on your person, much less two items and then use them together successfully while fending off an attack.
Got attacked while walking my dog by another vicious dog intent on biting mine.
The only thing I even had time to get to was my boot in the dogs face a few times until it left.
I really don’t know what I would have done had it been say three pit bulls attacking at once.
I’m not even sure that an automatic pistol would be enough to deal with that. Animals are really fast.
I feel sad for these old folks that got attacked. it must have been horrible :(

I won’t say exterminate the breed. But I will say the only place anyone should be able to see on is in a zoo.
It’s not all of them , there are some good bloodlines .
If you read what I wrote before most people should not keep these dogs and I do not like them myself , nor would I keep one.
There are lots of problems with pits because they have become popular with the wrong people .
When German Shepherds were the most popular dog they were the number one dog that bit people and seriously injured people.
There are way to many pits out there that should not be out there .Way to many people who keep them that should not keep them.
BTW the largest of my mastiffs weighed 230lbs and would let a six pound adult dog eat out of his dog food bowl and sleep in his bed.
Glad to see no sympathy for owning Pit Bulls here on this thread.
They have something in their brain that is inherited and causes them to attack. Of course, most of them don’t but why take the risk.
If you want a big dog, there are labs, Goldens, Collies and many other breeds that are not dangerous.
The dog that viciously attacked my dog completely unprovoked while we were walking was a Golden Retriever.
Don’t ever assume that any type of dog is not dangerous.
I really don’t care what is done with the breed. I’m just concerned the owners are mature and wise enough to realize what owning one means with respect to their own welfare.
When their dog attacks they will be sued.
They may even be imprisoned -and rightfully so.
Their dog will be killed.
Such a liability is not a “pet” but an offensive asset in the owner’s arsenal so to speak. What their owners do not realize is they are telegraphing their disposition to their neighbors. If and when the SHTF these owners will be pro-actively dealt with as they have firmly established their hostility to their neighborhoods. Their neighbors will already KNOW they are the #1 threat in the neighborhood. They will take proactive measures to eliminate the threats to their safety. Count on it. They have families to protect and any other dog can bark.
Be civil. Be neighborly. Don’t be a threat to your neighbors. If and when trouble happens you will need their acceptance, trust and goodwill. Those who pose a threat will be eliminated post-haste. Ref: gun ownership statistics.

Many years ago, I was messing around with my roommate’s Chow, as I often did. It got a bit rough so I gave him a quick jab to the snout. I needed a lot of bandaids that week. Never saw it coming, dog had my whole big fist clenched in his mouth. Held onto it for a second or so. Man that bled alot.
And let me guess.. you got a steady dose of “how could you?” for a month, right?

I used to have two chows. One of them was a great dog, had him 10 years, the other sadly started turning violent and aggressive at a very young age.
It started to become apparent that he was going to bite someone and soon, and that person turned out to be me.
My hand when into his jaws so fast I didn’t even know what was happening until his teeth were scraping my bones. His canine fang almost went clear through my hand.
Had to go to the emergency room. He got put down the next day for being a biter. Can’t give home to vicious dogs, there are too many good dogs out there who need homes.
Well, more or less. My wife did see the logic of it, because she couldn’t see how we could trust her mom after us making a big deal out of it the first time.
None the less, that was used later on to prove how much I didn’t care for her folks. You know how that is.
I suppose it’s human nature to do that, on some level.
All dog owners have the responsibility to train and control their dog. Any of the larger breeds can be dangerous if not handled correctly. Pits just seem to tend toward the outer edges of dog behavior. I worry that one of my favorite breeds is in danger of being ruined. Great Danes are getting popular. People are breeding them for non-standard colors and extreme size. I have a spayed female that is extremely oversize. I had no reason to suspect she would be so big. Both parents were not that big. If this dog was in the wrong hands she would be more dangerous than any pit.
Mothers-in-Law tend to have that sort of behavior in common. Don’t feel even a tinge of guilt; I sometimes wish I’d done some things differently where my MIL was concerned. (She’s been deceased a few years now; was 88 when she passed away.)
You know, my mother-in-law passed away many years ago when my young wife and I were expecting our second child.
My wife was about six to seven months along, and I remember being very concerned with her and the child’s health. I did my best to think of them first. I did not want her to go spend a lot of time spiraling downward at that point in her pregnancy.
One thing I regret, was not going over to visit her mom on my own to give her moral support. She was more sick than we realized. The family was badly broken. She did not get the support she deserved, and I would never have meant to short-change her at a time like that.
I don’t care if the woman treated me like dog poo, when she was very ill, I would support her.
That is is my regret.
