Berto is a former champ (not that it matters much with multiple champs) but he was 3-3 in his last 6 coming into this.
Most people thought he had nothing to offer Mayweather, and they were right. He looked like he just showed up for a paycheck (4 mil, his biggest ever). The fight was also poorly promoted, not that they didn’t have their work cut out, but they could have done a better job with “Mayweather’s final fight”.
How long would Mayweather last against Carmen Basilio, Kid Gavilan, Ray Robinson, Jimmy McLarnin, Joe Walcott, Ted Kid Lewis, Mickey Walker, Henry Armstong?
