Xiaomi is outselling Apple. Apple is not making a profit there per unit sold. They charge their US and European dupes more to make up for this

More lies, Dennis? Of course Apple is making a profit in China and Xiaomi is not making much of a profit in China. . . The only months in which Xiaomi outsold Apple is August/September when they released their new models mimicking the upcoming Apple iPhones. . . something they have done for the last two years.

Apple Revenues by region

Apple's Revenues in Greater China are represented by the red dots (how appropriate for Red China and lines and were approximately $13 Billion in the last quarter alone, a historically lower quarter year-over-year, but far higher this year than last and every preceding year. Apple's China revenues were second only to the Revenues in the America's.

You need to up the quality of your lies, DennisW, these are far too easy to shoot down.

I think the pink/ rose gold ones will sell like hot cakes.

That said, I’m currently on an iPhone 4S running OS 6. At this point most of my apps aren’t supported.

As of the 7th I’m eligible for an upgrade. I went to my local AT&T store this past weekend and can get an iPhone 6 w/ 128 GB now, or pre order the S version and get it in two or three weeks. I don’t mind waiting.

I’m just wondering what to do. Am I better off to get the phone now even though in two weeks it will be considered a year old- or get the new S version?

Also, I’m leaning towards the larger phone size, but don’t know if it will fit in a pocketbook. Does the Mrs have any advice?

Perhaps I am getting old, but what possible new unbelievable must have wizbang stuff will be on the new Iphone to justify such mania? Now I am a programmer so I do not lack vision or creativity in such things, but for the use of 99% of cell phone users, what new oh my god must have new things are there going to be? You can already take incredible photos and video and share them instantly world wide. You can already surf the web and have instantaneous access to all of the worlds knowledge anywhere, anytime, 24 hours a day in all time zones. You can already ask your phone to direct you to just about any address, you can already talk to your family while sharing live images of yourselves. You can watch movies and listen to music, and even play games on your cell phone. You can point your phone at the sky and it will tell you which has planet or star you are looking at, it will even tell you what flight is flying over your head and its start point and destination. Hell if you get bored, you can actually call somebody. The only thing they can do to improve it is make these god%#*^ virtual keyboards stop sucking.

Interesting. I held out for a large screen iPhone, but Apple bombed and came up with the weak 5s/c. So I bought a Note III instead. I really like the Note, but I want all my iTunes integrated with my phone. Also, the Note IV no longer has the flash card slot. So, I just ordered a 6s Plus 128GB.

Be careful when you hand off or dispose of your Note. . . erasing data on Android phones is very difficult. . . if not impossible. Take every precaution to make sure you do everything possible to do so. Many Android manufacturers are recommending destroying the phone instead of selling or handing it down if you've had any ID data or passwords on it at all.

500 million Android devices at risk: Researchers find that factory reset doesn’t completely wipe data

The 500 million in the title is mis-leading. It's actually 650 million.

Just to clarify, the Note 4 has an SD card slot, while the newest version, Note 5 does not have SD card slot. I own the Note 4, and love it, but based on Samsung’s choices, I will look elsewhere when it’s time to upgrade.

That said, I’m currently on an iPhone 4S running OS 6. At this point most of my apps aren’t supported.

Then you need to upgrade to iOS 8.1, which will run on your iPhone 4S.

It will be a tad slow, but it will work.

My iPhone 6 fits fine in my shirt pocket, no problems. I don't think the iPhone 6 plus or 6s plus would fit at all.

Thanks.

Good to know. Gazelle offered me $95. I’ll have to think harder about that. Yes, I have confidential data on my phone.

You can already take incredible photos and video and share them instantly world wide.

12 Megapixel camera with the ability to take what's referred to as Live Photos. That's a photo where a video is also taken for 1.5 seconds before and after the photo and will be shown when you look at the photo if you choose. It allows the ripples in a stream, the wave to crash, the child to giggle, etc. to be shown instead of just a still life of a plain photo, but you still have the photo as normal. That is the new default of the iPhone camera.

The video can take 4K videos at 60 frames per second. . . and play it back at a normal 30 frames per second for slow-motion. Or, if you don't have a iPhone 6 or 6 plus which have this feature as well, the new 6s cameras allow you to take regular HD at 240 frames per second and play it back at normal 30 for really effective slo-mo.

If you are new to the iPhone, you can use Apple Pay which is the most secure way to pay for things using a credit card which cannot be intercepted to steal your account, personal ID, or any knowledge about you or the transaction, or use that information to buy anything again.

The 6s and 6s plus have improved dictation through Siri and the 3D touch allow an enhanced user interface that makes it easier to quickly navigate to the things you will want to do with your iPhone.

With an iPhone and other Apple products, everything is integrated together and what you are doing on one can be continued on another with out loss of data or interruption of workflow.

And Apple has improved the keyboard. . . or you can install a third party keyboard if you prefer one.

As I said, Hairgate was a HOAX. . . using Chinese knock-off copies of iPhones. Do you seriously think that only Canadian iPhones cause hair to be pulled out???

Bendgate:

FROM YOUR OWN LINK:

"The company was forced to address it soon after, releasing a statement saying that the problem was “extremely rare” and that it had only got nine complaints."

It was a FUD marketing campaign orchestrated by Samsung.

As I said, it disappeared completely after Consumers Reports TESTED large format phones and found that the iPhone was the LAST to bend under pressure. . . CR found it took 120 lbs of pressure placed on the center of the iPhone 6 plus to begin to bend it and and permanently bent with 145 lbs of force. It could NOT be done by merely placing one in a hip pocket as the MYTH claimed. The Samsung Note bent with 90 pounds and the LG with ~100 Lbs and both were permanently bent with less than 120 lbs. The HTC started bending at the same 120 Lbs as the iPhone but cracked and shattered the screen far sooner than the iPhone. Those are the facts uncovered by CR's independent laboratory.

You can keep finding articles from the period if you like, but it doesn't change the facts of what happened or that there were ONLY NINE COMPLAINTS out over 100,000,000 sold, and those were probably bent by people trying to see if they could bend their phones after hearing about it on YouTube by the guy who bent his and made lots of money with his YouTube video that went viral!

Since that article came out, someone may have come out with a good third party eraser program. . . better research it. iPhone's don't have that problem.

...

So why are there so many reports that Apple is beefing up the case in this new bug fix release?

The article seems to indicate that there really is a problem. I don’t care one way or the other. It would explain why Apple has to come out with these bug fix upgrades. They make money off the problems they create. Microsoft has a long history of doing the same.
