NASCAR will increase restart zone for remaining races UPDATE: The restart zone for this weekend's NASCAR races at Dover International Speedway will double from 70 feet to 140 feet, according to NASCAR. The sanctioning body will also lengthen the restart zone for the 2015 season's remaining races post-Dover -- the exact increase will be determined by an at-track basis. The restart rules have not changed. Drivers will still line up double file, with the leader being the "control car," meaning the second-place car can't take off before the leader in the restart zone located before the start/finish line.(NASCAR.com)(10-1-2015)
UPDATE: In response to drivers' concerns over restart rules and the ostensible growing tendency of drivers to break them, NASCAR announced this week a doubling of the length of the restart zones. In feet, the length of the restart zone has been set at two times pit road speed. At Dover, where pit road speed is 35 mph, the restart zone measured 70 feet. Now it's 140 feet, and most drivers felt the expansion will restore, appropriately, some of the advantage the race leader should have. "To lengthen that box, I think is a great move," said six-time Sprint Cup champion #48-Jimmie Johnson. "I'm hopeful that they lengthen the box and bring it closer to the start/finish line. I think it will slow down some of the three- and four-wide into Turn 1 scenarios we have had. It will be less distance to get speed built up closer to the start/finish line and I think we will maybe control that space a little bit better. We should have better side-by-side restarts, which is what everybody is after. And then, obviously, the goal here is to give control back to the guy that has earned it - to the leader. That's what happens, and I'm in favor of it. It's a good call, and I am excited to see how it plays out."(NASCAR Wire Service)(10-4-2015)
Opening Ceremonies on now
Did the drivers really think they would race last night or do you think some of them banked on a day-time start and planned their car accordingly?
#88 #20 and #18 all out of the chase due to crashes? Tough race.
#48 out of the race. #78 within inches of having a gas can leave his pit stall. What a strange race.
A tight car is a slow car because one always has to get out of the gas to slow down to turn and regain front grip and watch everybody else go past...
FYI in the rest of the racing world they use different words to describe handling on the car. Understeer is Tight, Oversteer is Loose.
In NASCAR we call 'Tar wear "used up,worned out or FLAT!" The rest of the World calls it "Tyre degradation and deflated." What We call "Marbles" (the bits of 'Tar that gather at the top of the groove) they call "Clag"
Now here is a bit more techy explaination.
As a rule a Day Track is warmer and tends to be loose due to oils coming out of the asphalt and the Marbles getting softer due to heat.
A Night Track is just the opposite.
Race 2 of the Contender round. Joey moving on. Kyle, Jr., Newman, and Harvick in trouble.
Just a reminder that if someone has an aching desire to make the threads next season, let me know.

Thanks for the race 2 contender info.
I’d consider hosting the thread but, even though retired, my schedule is basically here one day and gone the next. I hope someone steps up as I enjoy the threads and banter. In the meantime - thanks a lot.
It has been a long year for me. By mid August, I had been away from home for over 1/4 of the year. Days are long, 12-14 hours most days. Results in my not finding time to get things done when I should.
I’m trying to get some News posted here but am having ISP Connection problems so I’ve detoured over to that task so I can get back to the Important stuff.
I’ll be Posting News and Q results after Q is completed. At the moment I have good ISP Connection, hope it stays this way.
t would be hard to beat last week’s race for action and race implications. Guess we’ll just have to tune in to watch.
Race on shortly: 2:15 PM ET on NBC.

Talledaga, the big crapshoot (but fun to watch).
NASCAR limits green-white-checkered at Talladega to one attempt...............................................................................????????????>>>???
B-2 Stealth Bomber to do flyover at Talladega: Talladega Superspeedway is known as the biggest and baddest race track on the planet. The U.S. Air Force B-2 Stealth Bomber may not be the biggest, but it is no doubt the baddest aircraft that one will ever see. The two will come together Sunday for the most anticipated NASCAR Sprint Cup race of 2015 - the CampingWorld.com 500. The B-2 Stealth, which sports an incredible 172-foot wingspan, will be part of the pre-race ceremonies for the CampingWorld.com 500, providing an unforgettable flyover at the end of the National Anthem, which will be performed by the 313th United States Army Band. The flyover will take place just moments before the drop of the green flag for the CampingWorld.com 500, the final race of the Contender Round in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup in which the field of 12 eligible drivers for the title will be trimmed to eight at the checkered flag. The pilots and ground crew with the B-2 Stealth Bomber are from the 13th Bomb Squadron, one of the oldest units in the United States Air Force, under the 509th Bomb Wing in Whiteman Air Force Base, MO - the only location in the world with B-2 Stealth Bombers. The 509th Bomb Wing led the way for America's first military response after the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, D.C. in 2001. It was the first U.S. aircraft to enter Afghan airspace and flew roundtrip from Missouri, logging combat missions in excess of 40 hours - the longest on record. It paved the way for other coalition aircraft to engage Taliban and Al Queda forces.(TSS)(10-23-2015)
