My first choice remains, as it has since the outset of the primaries, Southerner Senator Ted Cruz. But, for a Yankee, Trump isn't so bad. Dare I say it as a partisan of all things Southern (except for the CFB...but that's a long story), but maybe the Republic needs a dose of a New York tough guy. Words I thought I would never utter since, frankly, I don't much care for New York.

Trump's paternal and maternal ancestors were in Germany and Scotland, respectively, during the War between the States. Cruz's maternal ancestors were from Delaware and they possibly fought for the Union. Also, Trump never moved to the South, so he may be a Yankee, but he is not a “damyankee”.
