A Qatari man investigators have connected to a Ferrari that sped through residential streets in Beverly Hills in a weekend incident caught on video, has left the country, police said on Thursday.
Beverly Hills Police Chief Dominick Rivetti identified the man as Sheikh Khalid Hamad Al-Thani. The Thani dynasty rules Qatar, but Beverly Hills police declined to confirm if the man who left the country is part of Qatar's royal family.
In a video broadcast by Los Angeles television stations that sparked anger among residents and on social media, a Ferrari and a Porsche screeched their tires and revved their engines on Saturday as they zoomed along residential streets and blew past a stop sign. The Ferrari's driver could be seen in the video pulling into a driveway with smoke rising from the engine.
The incident gained international attention when police said someone involved in the incident claimed diplomatic immunity.
Police have said the cars in the video appeared to have been driven recklessly but that officers who arrived to find the Ferrari in the driveway could not make an arrest or issue a citation because they did not witness the incident

And the Arab douche bag didnt have “Diplomatic Immunity” like he said, surprise surprise
Daddy called him home. Qatari does not like this type of problem child.
“Police have said the cars in the video appeared to have been driven recklessly but that officers who arrived to find the Ferrari in the driveway could not make an arrest or issue a citation because they did not witness the incident”
I guess having it on video doesn’t mean anything. Someone needed to be killed first.
Was renting the 10 Million dollar home for $45,000.00 / Month.
Rich boy Khalid and/or his friends involved need an old fashioned attitude adjustment.
If police can’t issue a citation without witnessing a transgression then how do they stop people for speeding when using aircraft?
No but him and his family do have lots and lots of money to buy our politicians with through our campaign funding system. And we wonder why the muslim in chief gets whatever he wants through our Congress.
And how about red light cameras?
Reckless driving is probably a misdemeanor.....some misdemeanor crimes have a presence exception and others do not....meaning if the officer wasn’t a witness they write a report and a detective and/or prosecutor decide.
The other possibility is that none of the video captured the car being driven recklessly..AND a clear image of who was driving....or none of the witnesses could positively ID the driver.
You’re correct, in the video a driver can’t be identified but they were driving recklessly in my view.
The vid I saw yesterday showed a guy walking down the driveway and saying to a reporter he had diplomatic immunity and could have him killed or some such garbage.
Police aren’t flying in the aircraft?
Not the one who tickets you.
Actually, most people don’t know this but if you are issued a traffic citation because of an aircraft traffic patrol, all you have to do is show up in court and demand to be faced with the accuser who witnessed you and signed the citation.
Since the pilot of the aircraft is not the one who wrote the citation, they cannot produce an officer who witnessed the alleged traffic infraction and the case must be dismissed.
I hope the landlord has a HUGE security deposit. Pretty much a ‘must have’ with a foreign tenant.
OTOH when they leave in a hurry they frequently leave behind a fully furnished flat and a Mercedes.
He may be executed.... : )
